I think that there is a big misconception regarding Scrum. From your comment I have a suspicion that you also a prisoner of this misconception, but then again, I may be wrong, so let me try to clarify it.

Scrum is nothing but a mind set of constant improvement and eliminate waste. All the rest are technical details (Are you familiar with Shu Ha Ri...?)

Based on this simple assumption, let us test your comment.

If people do not like Scrum = People do not want to improve themselves.

Well, this is a petty so before going iterations, visibility, scrum master and all the technical details, three should be an incentive to start having this mind set. Without this mind set nothing will work.

Scrum is NOT a software development methodology but a framework and there is a BIG difference. It means that it offers you tools to improve yourself but YOU need to choose what is best for you (again after implementing Shu Ha Ri)

trade off? I do not fully understand what do you mean :-(, if you are implying that at the beginning we will not be efficient as we were, this is correct, however you will be twice as much efficient after doing Scrum for couple of sprints (this BTW has nothing to do with Scrum but for every change)

So basically, if you find waste and you do not (striving to) eliminate it, you are not working in Scrum but only do it in a technical ways (common mistake by the way which usually comes with the quote "OK, where is the list of things that I need to do in order to apply Scrum?")

It is a constant hard journey (especially at the beginning) but once it becomes your day to day habit, you will never even consider going back to places where people (as smart as they are) think that a general solution must fit you

So, baiscally, if people don't like scrum it's a problem with them, rather than the fact that it's software development method that has unfortunate trade offs for other work in the company.

Although it is very sad to hear, it is not surprised.

A lot of organizations try implementing Scrum/Agile and do it to their best of their knowledge but keep forgetting a lot of issues, one of them is how to handle documentation.

Scrum is actually a way to be improved in your project management, if you get stuck with inefficiency, it will never considered to be Scrum

I suspect you are in this phase

Only by setting a vision and start walking toward this vision you are starting to implement he Scrum mind set. If you have the actual practices, the journey will be much more easier

I've worked for several agile/scrum companies and in each case, the writers found the agile /scrum process hostile to the production of high-quality. in-depth educational materials. It's not a terrible SW development method, but for taking the long view, but not for creating deepening layers of educational material,

בין השאר, מנהל שיוצא לחו"ל ולא מוכן שיתקבלו החלטות בלעדיו זו לא בעיית אמון. זו בעיית עודף ריכוזיות. נפוליוניזם. ועוד הרבה שמות שמסתובבים סביב הבעיה של יותר מדי שתן בראש :-) אם פתחת בנושא של לתת כלים ולא פתרונות כדי להעצים את האנשים מסביב, הרי שמנהל כזה לא רק שלא מעצים את הסביבה שלו, הוא מגמד אותה בנסיון (עקר) להעצים את דמותו ואת הרעיון שאי אפשר בלעדיו.

בחלקו זה נכון, אבל מה קורה כשהצוות לא מביא את התוצאות? בדרך כלל הוא נענש, באג'ייל זה ממש לא המצב שכן הנחת היסוד היא שהצוות עשה את כל שיכל על מנת לעמוד בתוצאות. וכמובן הפוך, אם הוא עמד בכל היעדעם, לא צריך להלל אותו. יתר על כן, צוות שתמיד עומד ביעדים שלו, לא ממצה את היכולות שלו. בדרך כלל מפחד של תגובת המנהל כתוצאה מטעות אני ממליץ בחום לקרוא את המאמר הבא של קן http://www.scrumalliance.org/articles/31-no-applause-please דנקו
